About the Event
The field of mental health counseling evolved in the blink of an eye at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the pandemic, we have been in a period of change and uncertainty. It has impacted our practices, our agencies and our personal well being. As we continue to navigate the changes, we also have the opportunity of self reflection and recognizing strengths and areas for development that we may not have realized we had.
Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand your own emotions as well as the emotions of those that are around you. COVID-19 has forced many counselors to make changes at an exceptionally fast pace! So fast that it left many feeling lost in their identity as a counselor. With new demands being placed, new guidelines and techniques being learned at a fast pace, being able to reevaluate who we are and who we will grow to become is imperative. Understanding Emotional Intelligence can support us as we continue to support the communities, individuals and families we serve.
